Do you prefer to interact with others who have “been there” or may be experiencing issues for which you can relate? We provide several group counseling options to better meet your needs. Group counseling sessions are offered on a weekly basis. They are typically 60 to 90 minutes in duration. You will benefit from an atmosphere where you are gaining knowledge and insights from others who are experiencing the same or similar challenges as yourself, your loved one, or
your family.
Self-Help Groups
These groups are open groups where members can join at any time. They are typically led by an individual who is not a professional, but has successfully overcome challenges presented by group members and is committed to helping others through the process of addressing problems. Group facilitators are skilled in self-management and recovery training.
Process-Oriented Groups
These groups do not have a set agenda and the focus is on the group experience, group members developing cohesiveness by sharing with one another and making connections. Our process-oriented groups are led by a licensed professional in the mental health, substance abuse, or other behavioral health field.
Relationship Groups for Couples
Couples face a tremendous amount of pressure to conform to social norms which often leave them with the idea that when they are out in public or attending social events or functions with extended family members, they must where a mask. This mask usually includes a smile or any other gesture which would communicate a happy union to those around them. They often leave these events feeling as though everyone else is happy and they are isolated in their true
struggles.
Relationship groups for couples are for individuals who are serious about improving their relationship and can be beneficial in helping couples increase relationship skills, communication, problem-solving, reduce tension, and increase true intimacy in their relationships. Group interaction, feedback, and observations are conducted in a secure confidential environment. Your therapist will utilize proven techniques to assist you in breaking the isolation and recognize that your relationship is more normal than you realize.
Psychoeducational Groups
These groups provide education through information needed to assist group members in coping and managing issues. This group is usually delivered by utilizing a module or curriculum structured by specific topics related to a particular problem or condition. Our psychoeducational groups are led by professionals in the behavioral health field with training in skill-building and skills training related to psychosocial stressors, emotional well-being, and wellness.
