Groups for Children, Adolescents & Teens

Age-appropriate, clinician-facilitated group experiences designed to help young people heal, grow, and thrive together.

Young people are not simply small adults. Their developmental needs, their ways of processing emotion, and the kinds of therapeutic experiences that resonate most deeply are fundamentally different at every stage of childhood and adolescence. Scholar’s groups for young people are built around that understanding — designed not just to address symptoms, but to meet each child, adolescent, and teenager exactly where they are developmentally, emotionally, and socially.

Group counseling is particularly powerful for young people. Alongside their peers, in a safe and professionally guided environment, children and adolescents discover that they are not alone in what they are experiencing, develop skills they can use immediately in their daily lives, and form the kind of genuine connections that support lasting well-being.

Grief, Loss & Family Transitions — Available Across All Age Groups

Scholar Specialized Treatment Services offers dedicated grief and loss groups and family transitions groups for children, adolescents, and teens at every age level. These groups are available as standalone offerings and are also woven throughout the curriculum of our broader age-specific groups.

Grief & Loss groups address the experience of losing a loved one, a relationship, a significant life circumstance, or any other experience of profound loss — providing a developmentally appropriate space for young people to process grief with peers who understand and with the guidance of a skilled clinician.

Family Transitions groups address the specific challenges that arise when family structure changes — including parental divorce or separation, adjustment to step-family and blended family dynamics, a parent’s new relationship, changes in living arrangements, and the complex emotions that accompany each of these transitions. These groups give young people a safe space to make sense of what their family is becoming and to find their footing within it.

"Every young person deserves a space where they feel genuinely understood, genuinely supported, and genuinely not alone. Scholar’s groups for children, adolescents, and teens are that space."

"To learn more about current group offerings, availability, and how to enroll your child or adolescent, please contact Scholar directly. A brief clinical consultation is required prior to joining any group to ensure the right fit for your young person’s specific needs and goals."
